
Wolfpack Set to Host 2023 Fall College Ranked Spotlight

Thursday's doubles matches at NC State, and the rest of weekend played at Cary Tennis Park
Raleigh, N.C. – The Wolfpack women's tennis team is set to play host to the 2023 Fall College Ranked Spotlight. This will be NC State's third consecutive year hosting the tournament, and the Wolfpack will welcome 16 other teams this weekend.
The tournament will last four days (Thursday-Sunday), with Thursday's doubles matches set to be played on NC State's campus and the remaining matches scheduled to occur at Cary Tennis Park. There will not be any live results or live streaming of the event. Fans are encouraged to refer to the tournament website for score updates at the end of each day and more info throughout the invitational.
Format:
NC State is one of the 17 teams set to compete this weekend alongside Arizona State, Auburn, Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCF, USC and Virginia. Of the 17 teams competing this weekend, all 17 finished the 2022-23 season ranked within the national top 50.
The tournament format will consist of two singles draws (featuring backdraws), and doubles will be played in a four-pod format. The individual match breakdown for each day of the tournament is as follows:
Thursday: Two doubles matches
Friday: Two singles matches
Saturday: Two singles matches
Sunday: One singles match, one doubles match
Wolfpack Representation:
The Pack will send seven players, three of whom are in the 2023 preseason national singles rankings. Amelia Rajecki (No. 10), Abigail Rencheli (No.72), Sophie Abrams (No.110), Gina Dittmann, and Anna Zyryanova will also join them in singles play. At the same time, freshmen Maddy Zampardo and Gabriella Broadfoot will participate in round-robin play.
The No.43 preseason rank doubles team of Rajecki and Zampardo will see action along with duos of Abrams and Zyryanova, Rencheli, and Broadfoot.
Last season, NC State women's tennis saw success across the board in the College Fall Ranked Spotlight, highlighted by Rajecki, who won the A2 singles draw with a perfect 5-0 weekend that included taking down the top seeds in the draw. The team played a total of 24 matches combined between singles and doubles, winning 14 out of the possible 19 matches in singles and going 3-2 in overall doubles.
Rencheli and Abrams also put together solid weekend appearances, with Rencheli going 2-2 in singles matches and defeating two ranked opponents. Abrams also found success this past weekend, going 3-2 in singles matches.
