NC State soccer comes up short at UVA, 3-1

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. – NC State surrendered two first half goals and never recovered, falling to Virginia, 3-1 in their first ACC road challenge.
UVA took a 2-0 halftime lead after scoring their first two goals in an eight minute span. It was the largest halftime deficit of the season for the Pack (4-3, 1-1). The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for NC State.
Luke Hille made it interesting, scoring his fifth goal of the season in the 68th minute. It was a quick response by the Pack after giving up a third goal to Virginia 35 seconds earlier.
After Hille's goal, the Cavaliers (4-2-1) slowed the game down. NC State was only able to get off one shot in the final 20 minutes. That attempt came from freshman Hakim Karamoko. The shot from Karamoko just missed the far post with three minutes remaining in the game.
The Pack attempted just six shots in the contest, compared to 15 from the Cavaliers.
Up next: NC State welcomes North Florida to town on Wednesday for a 7 pm match.
