
NC State drops road game to Central Florida, 3-1

ORLANDO, FLA. – NC State took a halftime lead over No. 13 UCF, but surrendered three goals to the Knights, falling 3-1 on the road.
It was the first win for UCF (3-0) in the short series with the Pack (2-1). NC State leads the all-time series 2-1-0.
The Wolfpack, playing in its first road game of the season, took a 1-0 lead in the first half off a goal from Will Buete in the 30:43 minute off an assist from freshman Yuta Toya. It was the second goal of the season for Buete.
NC State rode that momentum into the locker room at the break, however the host Knights would take control in the second half.
UCF scored all three goals in a 14 minute span for the win.
The Knights out shot the Pack 13-7. NC State only got off two shot attempts in the second half. The Pack was looking to knock off a ranked opponent for the first time since 2019. The team was also going for just its second ever 3-0 start under George Kiefer.
NC State got off to a slow start in this game after a 90 minute weather delay. It took the Pack almost 30 minutes before its first shot attempt. A few moments later, Buete slipped one past Juanvi Muoz to go up 1-0.
Up next: NC State will take on Stetson University on Monday at 7 pm.
