RALEIGH – NC State Gymnastics head coach Kim Landrus announced the addition of Emily Gaskins to the staff as an assistant coach Thursday.
"We are thrilled that Emily will be joining the NC State coaching staff as we are confident that she will be instrumental in our success moving forward," said Landrus. "She brings a wealth of experience both as a student-athlete and as the graduate student coach at Alabama last year. Her passion for the sport, along with her attention to detail at the highest level, will have a positive impact on our program."
A former gymnast at Alabama and 2021-22 team captain, Gaskins spent the 2022-23 season as a graduate assistant coach for her alma mater. During her time as a student-athlete, she was a Scholastic All-American (2019) and made the SEC Academic Honor Roll all four years. She competed in all four events throughout the course of her collegiate career.
During the 2022 season, she posted a career-best 9.950 on floor at the NCAA Seattle Regional Championships to take home the individual title. She posted a career high 39.525 score in the all-around at the NCAA Regional Finals in Tuscaloosa during her junior campaign and recorded scores of 9.9+ on both bars and floor during the event. She opened her career for the Crimson Tide in 2019 by placing first on the uneven bars with a score of 9.850 against SEMO, NIU and Temple.
"I am very excited to be joining NC State's gymnastics coaching staff," Gaskins said. "I look forward to working with an experienced coaching team and talented, confident student athletes who are passionate about gymnastics, all unified as one with a shared vision to win. Go Pack!"
Gaskins was also a three-time member of the USA Junior National Team. During the 2014 season, she helped lead them to gold in Italy and Mexico. In 2017, she earned a spot at the USA World Team selection camp in Huntsville, Texas. The same year, she placed third in the floor exercise at the U.S. Classic in Chicago.
Gaskins has trained alongside Olympians Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey, as well as five-time National Team member Morgan Hurd.
