RALEIGH – NC State gymnastics head coach Kim Landrus announced the additional signing of incoming freshman Ashley Knight Monday afternoon.
Landrus said, "This is an exciting day for Wolfpack Gymnastics as we welcome Ashley Knight to our family! Ashley has an immense amount of potential and will be a fan favorite on the competition floor. She should make an immediate impact as she is known for her power combined with her high level of difficulty. She has experienced a great amount of success in her gymnastics career thus far and I am ready to watch her shine in the NCAA!"
Knight, a native of Greensboro, N.C., competed for High Point Gymnastics where she was a Level 10 competitor. Her accolades include scoring a 9.95 on vault at the 2022 Tampa Bay Turner Invitational, placing her in the American's Top-100. During the 2022 season, she also placed first at the North Carolina State Championship by recording a vault score of 9.875 to once again place in America's Top-100. At the 2022 Level 10 Region 8 Championships, Knight placed fifth in the all around and first on vault. In 2023, she achieved her highest floor score with a 9.775 and a 9.6 on bars at the Kupets Pink Invitational. She also placed first all-around at the Greensboro Invitational and the Excalibur Cup Meet.
"I chose NC State because of the strong connection with the coaches during my visit and I strongly believe they will take my gymnastics skills to the next level. Most importantly, my family and friends can drive a short distance to come and watch me during competitions," said Knight.
Knight will officially join the team in the fall and compete in the inaugural ACC season in the winter.
