RALEIGH – Wolfpack Volleyball head coach Luka Slabe announced the addition of two more members of the 2023 signing class, Clara Vondran and Chelsea Gilmore, Thursday morning.
Head coach Luka Slabe said, "NC State volleyball program would like to welcome Clara and Chelsea to our University. They decided to commit to the process of mastery, adding as much value to our team as possible. We can't wait for them to arrive on campus."
Vondran, a five-foot 11-inch outside hitter, was tabbed first-team all-district, first team CCL, and All-State honorable mention during her time at Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus, Ohio. Collegiate athletes run in her family as her mother played volleyball at Ohio State, dad was a swimmer at OSU, her older brother plays baseball at Mount Union, and her older sister is on the LSU beach and indoor volleyball teams.
Slabe said, "Clara is a solid all-around volleyball player, not afraid to take on any role on the court. Her unique skill set and personality will add to the dynamic of our team. She comes from a very competitive background where her family members have played collegiate sports, however, she has been around volleyball all her life, and her passion for the game is palpable."
Gilmore, a six foot-one inch middle blocker from Fort Mill, S.C. played four years at Nation Ford High School. She earned several accolades in her four years including Offensive Player of the Year, Coaches Award, All-State, South Carolina All-Star, and All-American watchlist. She played club ball for Carolina Union and was tabbed AVCA All-Region, JVA Watchlist, and All-Phenom.
"Chelsea is another piece to our mosaic in our pursuit to make our program better than ever before. She adds depth to our middle blocker position. With her youth, athleticism, and discipline, she will immediately add to the overall quality of our volleyball team, " said Slabe.
