
Softball to Host N.C. Central for Midweek Doubleheader

RALEIGH -- The Wolfpack softball team will host North Carolina Central for a midweek double header on Wednesday March 8. Game one will begin at 4pm and be broadcast at ACCNX; game two will start at 7pm and be broadcast on ACCN.Â

- The Wolfpack looks to improve their overall record during the midweek doubleheader against the Eagles
- Despite holding a strong lead in game two with the No. 14 Hokies, the Pack fell 7-3 in the end
- Graduate outfielder Rebecca Murray led the team with four hits on the weekend, including the only hits recorded in game one
- Murray and fellow graduate Katlyn Pavlick each recorded a homerun against the Hokies
- After hosting the Eagles for a midweek doubleheader, the Pack will host Boston College for the second ACC series of the season
- The Wolfpack will be led by assistant coaches Deven Boland and Carson Shaner through the remainder of the 2023 season
- Assistant Coach Deven Boland will be handling all on-field duties, while Deputy Ad Stephanie Menio will be handling all off-field duties for the remainder of the 2023 season
- Athletic Director Boo Coorigan will not be naming an interim head coach, rather dividing duties between Boland and Menio
- The Eagles picked up their first win of the season after defeating Furman in nine innings over the weekend
- NCC was tabbed to finish fourth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and landed three on the preseason team
- NC State leads the all-time series, 5-0, with the last meeting occurring during the a year to the date of this seasons meeting
- In the last meeting, the Pack run-ruled the Eagles, 10-0, in five innings
- In five days, the Pack went from totaling seven home runs on the season to 20 (week of Feb. 22)
- Sophomore Taylor Ensley leads the team with five, all of which she recorded in five days (week of Feb. 22)
- Ensley is tied for 36th in the country for most homers this season
- Freshman Amanda Hasler and MaKayla Marbury each have a grand slam on their resume through the first 15 games of the season
- The Wolfpack ranks 12th nationally for homers per game, the only other team in the ACC to rank higher is Virginia Tech (T-2) and Virginia (11)
- Freshman pitcher Madison Inscoe currently records four wins in the circle this season -- the most by a Pack pitcher
- In the circle, she pitched eight consecutive no-hit innings (last four of game two against Iowa and first four in game two versus Purdue) and recorded five strikeouts in 24 hours
- During the ACC/B1G Ten Challenge she started two games at first base, where she recorded 12 putouts with one assist
- At the plate, Inscoe tallies nine hits and two homers, while recording eight RBI's
- Against Penn, the freshman recorded a career high seven strikeouts
- The Wolfpack returned 10 from the 2022 campaign and brought in an addition 11 during the offseason
- The Pack brought in eight freshman, the class was tabbed the fourth ranked signing class as noted by Extra Elite 100
- Also joining the Pack are transfers Katlyn Pavlick (Pitt), Rebecca Murray (Elon), and Hannah Goodwin (Clemson)
- The 2023 season marks the 20th year of competition for the Wolfpack
- In 2022, the Wolfpack finished with a 33-23 record
- The Pack was tabbed to finish 10th in the ACC in the preseason poll
