
Wolfpack Falls to No. 14 Hokies in Series Finale

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The NC State softball team fell to No. 14 Virginia Tech, 10-1, Sunday afternoon in the ACC series finale.
The Pack moves to 0-3 in conference and 5-13 overall.
The Hokies scored one in the bottom of the third after a sac bunt brought Maja Louko home with two outs. The final batter of the inning lined it out to Pack first baseman, Haley Haislip, for the final out.
Graduate Katlyn Pavlick stepped up to the plate first for the Pack to open the fourth inning. With a 2-2 count she blasted a ball over the left field wall to record her third homer this season and 20th of her career. Her hit tied the game one all.
The Hokies regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth after Jayme Bailey recorded a two run home run. Freshman pitcher Madison Inscoe picked up her third strikeout to retire the inning.
Virginia Tech had four batters walk with one out in the bottom of the sixth. Teagan Thrunk singled to right center field and brought two more home to give the Hokies a 6-1 lead. Three batters later, Cameron Fagan homered to left field, bringing in two RBI's. After Fagan's homer, the game concluded with a 10-1 Hokies win in six innings.
MaKayla Marbury and Amanda Hasler led the Wolfpack with four putouts each.
Next Up
The Wolfpack will host North Carolina Central on Wednesday March 8 for a double header. Game one will begin at 4pm on ACCNX and game two will start at 7pm on ACCN.
