Emily Shepard Lands on Podium with 9.925 on Bars
NORMAN, Okla. – The NC State gymnastics team concluded its 2023 campaign on Thursday, as the Wolfpack posted a 195.375 in the second session of the second round at the Norman Regional hosted by Oklahoma.
The Sooners claimed the team crown in the quad meet at 197.925, advancing to Saturday's final session with a trip to Nationals on the line. Second-place finisher Ohio State additionally advanced to Saturday's quad meet with a total of 197.350.
The Wolfpack's evening was highlighted by a 49.200 in its final rotation on floor led by a 9.900 in the anchor spot from Chloe Negrete. Senior Emily Shepard additionally fired a 9.925 on bars, which landed her in a tie for third place in the event.
Vault (48.875)
The Pack began its evening on vault where Negrete posted the squad's best score at 9.850. All-arounder Alexis Ortega's night began with a 9.800, while Krista Zultevicz posted a 9.775. Shepard used a 9.750 to aid her all-around effort, while Gabrielle Diaz in the leadoff spot rounded out the vault scoring effort at 9.700.

The Pack's best event of the night came in its last rotation, highlighted by Negrete posting her ninth score of 9.9+ on floor in just 14 meets. Shepard's 9.875 immediately preceding Negrete's routine completed a 39.400 all-around effort. Diaz led the event off at 9.850, while a 9.825 from Ortega helped build a strong finish for the Pack.
