RALEIGH – The NC State gymnastics team is set to take on Ball State in the first round of the NCAA Championships on Wednesday, Mar. 29, at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla.
The postseason appearance marks NC State's 32nd NCAA Regional selection and is the second time in program history that the Pack will compete at Oklahoma.
NC State enters its play-in meet against Ball State having most recently posted a second-place finish in the EAGL Championships. The Pack fired a 196.425 in its last EAGL Championship meet before transitioning to the ACC in 2024, with Towson claiming the team title by posting a 196.500 in the evening session.
Ball State's 196.325 on Mar. 18 was enough to land the Cardinals a second-place finish in the MAC Championship meet, finishing just behind meet champion Central Michigan.
Ball State enters Wednesday's contest ranked 34th in NQS at 196.325, just four spots behind the 30th-ranked Wolfpack at 196.460. The Cardinals' season-high score came in their regular-season finale against Western Michigan, posting a 196.900 in a dual-meet loss to the Broncos.
The winner of Wednesday's play-in meet will advance to the evening session of the Second Round on Thursday, Mar. 30, competing in a quad meet against Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Arkansas.
