
Pack Opens 2023 NCAA Tournament Versus Princeton Friday

SALT LAKE CITY – Seventh-seeded NC State women's basketball (20-11) opens 2023 NCAA Tournament competition on Friday with a matchup against 10th-seeded Princeton (23-5) in Salt Lake City. Tip-off between the Wolfpack and the Tigers is scheduled for 10 p.m. EST (8 p.m. local time) from inside the Huntsman Center on Utah's campus.
The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 with Elise Woodward and Dan Hughes on the call. Andrew Sanders and Ernie Myers will also have the radio call on WKNC 88.1 FM in Raleigh and on the Varsity Network app.

• Be the 1,019th win in program history (1,018-489)
• Be head coach Wes Moore's 801st career win (800-249)
• Be Moore's 243rd win at NC State (242-80)

• 2023 marks NC State's 28th overall NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and its seventh under the leadership of Coach Moore.
• The Wolfpack has been selected to compete in the NCAA Tournament six times in a row. That is the longest such streak for the team since it also went to six straight from 1995 through 2001 and the second-longest streak in program history.
• NC State has advanced out of the first round in each of its last five NCAA Tournament appearances. The team has not lost its first- round game since the 2014 NCAA Tournament, Coach Moore's first at the helm of the program.
• The Pack has reached the Sweet 16 in four consecutive NCAA Tournaments, the longest such run in program history. Prior to this stretch, NC State had only ever appeared in three consecutive Sweet 16s in 1989, 1990 and 1991.
• NC State had been a top-four seed and hosted the first two rounds each NCAA Tournament since 2018. The Wolfpack will begin its NCAA Tournament journey on the road for the first time since it traveled to Austin in 2017.
• Overall, NC State is 18-9 in its NCAA Tournament openers since its first appearance in 1982.

• NC State is one of 14 schools in the nation and one of two ACC schools to have its women's and men's basketball programs both make the NCAA Tournament and have its football team play in a bowl game all in the same season.
• The Wolfpack ranks in the top 40 nationally in fewest fouls per game (16th - 13.6), defensive rebounds per game (21st - 28.9), fewest turnovers per game (32nd - 13.1) and blocks per game (36th - 4.4).
• NC State's second-round ACC Tournament victory over Syracuse marked its 20th win of the season. NC State has had nine 20+ win seasons in the Wes Moore era and eight in a row.
• With that victory, Moore became the fifth active, third-ever ACC and 15th NCAA Division I women's basketball coach of all time to reach the 800 wins mark. He accomplished the feat in 1,048 games across stints at NC State (242), Chattanooga (358), Francis Marion (69) and Maryville College (131).
