
Wolfpack Women to Begin 2023 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships Wednesday

KNOXVILLE, TENN. – Seventeen Wolfpack women are set to begin competition at the 2023 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships this week to conclude the 2022-2023 season. The meet is set to run Wednesday through Saturday at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn.Â

MEET NOTEBOOK:
The Wolfpack women qualified 14 individuals for this year's NCAA Championships, tying the most qualifiers in program history set last year. All five of NC State's relays also posted times during the season that earned spots at the national meet.Â
NC State's women have finished in the top 20 at the NCAA Championships eight times in a row, finishing in fifth place at last year's meet.Â
After entering the 2021 Championship meet with just one diving national title in their program's history, NC State's women have won six National Championship titles in the past two years. Last season's meet was highlighted by Katharine Berkoff's second consecutive national title in the 100-yard backstroke, setting American, US Open, NCAA, Meet, Pool and Program Records in the process,

NATIONAL SUCCESS UNDER HOLLOWAY:
Since Braden Holloway took over as head coach at the start of the 2011-12 season, the Wolfpack has enjoyed unparalleled success in the pool. During the 2010-11 campaign, NC State did not score at the NCAA Championships. Since then, NC State's women have secured 168 All-America citations from the national meets.
TOP MARKS:
NC State enters the meet with 15 individual swims seeded in the top 16 on the official psych sheet and four relays seeded in the top eight in the nation.
Two-time National Champion in the event, Katharine Berkoff enters the meet as the second place seed in the 100-yard backstroke, along with sixth place seeds in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.
All three of junior Abby Arens' events sit in the top-16, with her highest seed being in the 200-yard butterfly (sixth). She stands as the eighth seed in the 100-yard butterfly and 12th in the 200-yard individual medley.
NC State comes into the meet with two swimmers seeded in the top-eight in three individual events. Kylee Alons and Arens are seeded seventh and eighth in the 100-yard butterfly, Heather MacCausland and Andrea Podmanikova sit fifth and eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke, and Kennedy Noble and Emma Muzzy will enter the 200-yard backstroke as the fifth and sixth seeds, respectively.Â
