RALEIGH – For the second time in the 2023 campaign, NC State's Chloe Negrete was selected as the Week Eight EAGL Specialist of the Week.
The recognition comes after the Pack's tri-meet at LIU with Temple on Feb. 26, while Negrete's first award of the season came on Feb. 1 after her dual-meet performance at Auburn.
The senior's week-nine showing granted her the seventh EAGL weekly award of her career, as in addition to her previous recognition in 2023 Negrete was a two-time EAGL Specialist of the Week and 2021, and she was named EAGL Rookie of the Week three times during the 2020 season.
Negrete's showing at LIU was highlighted by matching her career-high scores on both floor and vault. Negrete fired a 9.950 on floor which led the way for NC State to post its best floor score since 2018 at 49.425. The 9.950 also marked the best score by an NC State gymnast in any routine during the 2023 season.
While her floor efforts were enough to earn her a first-place finish, she added another individual title during the Pack's final rotation on vault by anchoring the event with a 9.900.
Negrete's performance additionally included a 9.825 on beam, which placed her in a five-way tie for third place. The score matched teammate Alexis Ortega's, which extended Negrete's streak of either individually posting or matching NC State's best score on vault in every meet this season.
Overall, Negrete holds the Wolfpack's best NQS total on vault (9.875), beam (9.880), and floor (9.910), while leading all EAGL competitors on beam and floor and ranking second on vault.
Negrete and the rest of NC State's squad will be back in action on Saturday, Mar. 4, as the Pack wraps up it's home slate with a dual meet in Reynolds Coliseum against Rutgers. The Senior Day meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., with the contest being broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
