Pack Posts Season-High Floor Score
TOWSON, Md. – No. 23 NC State Gymnastics competed in its first quad meet of the 2023 season on Friday evening, posting a 194.775 at Towson.
Host school Towson was crowned meet champion as the Tigers posted a season-best total of 196.425, while Temple finished the evening at 195.300 and Pitt fired off a 195.275.
NC State's night was highlighted by the Wolfpack posting a season-best team score on floor at 49.375 in addition to senior Emily Shepard claiming the all-around crown with a mark of 39.300. Shepard's all-around effort in addition to her tie for first place on vault and tie for third place on floor marked her 100th-career podium finish during her time at NC State.
Bars (47.450)
NC State started the evening on bars and were led by Shepard's tally of 9.825. The opening event saw the Pack suffer three falls, with freshman Kailee Adomaites and Peyton Childs additionally posted scores of 9.650 and 9.625, respectively.
Beam (48.850)
Chloe Negrete was the Pack's leader on beam, finishing third overall and continuing a hot start to the season for the senior. Negrete has either been NC State's leader or has matched the team's highest score on beam in every meet this season. Furthermore, Alexis Ortega matched her season-high score in the event with a 9.800, while a 9.775 from Macy Jennings and a 9.725 from Krista Zultevicz built on the Pack's scoring effort. Shepard owned the final counting score, as she filed a 9.700.
Floor (49.375)
NC State's highest team floor score of the season saw the Pack register a tie for the ninth-best score in the event in program history. Led by Negrete's second-straight score of 9.925 which landed her first overall in the event and was her third time hitting that mark this season, the Pack also saw Lauren Rutherford match her career high at 9.900. The Pack only counted scores of 9.800+ in its third rotation, with Shepard and Zultevicz each posting a 9.875 and Gabrielle Diaz leading off the event with a 9.800.
Vault (49.100)
The competition closed for the Pack on vault where Shepard led the way for NC State with her second 9.900 of the season in the event. Negrete anchored with a 9.875, with the Pack's scoring effort rounded out by a trio of 9.775 scores from Ortega, Zultevicz, and Rutherford.

NC State is set for a two-meet weekend coming up, with a home dual meet against New Hampshire on Friday, Feb. 17 and a quad meet at Temple on Sunday, Feb. 19. Friday's contest will be held at Reynolds Coliseum and is slated to begin at 7 p.m. while broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
