RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State gymnastics program welcomed three new additions to its roster on National Signing Day on Wednesday with Ava Myers, Jenna Rusk and Caroline Volk each electing to attend NC State.
While Myers, Rusk and Volk each pledged their commitment to the Wolfpack prior to National Signing Day, the three members of the 2024 class confirmed their allegiances on Wednesday.
NC State's head coach Kim Landrus had high praise for the program's three newcomers, reveling in their athletic and personal attributes.
"I am thrilled that the trio of Ava, Jenna and Caroline are now officially part of the Pack," Landrus said. "With all three of them, there was a 'sign' within a very short period of time that made me confident they had the attributes that would fit right into our Pack Family.
"The 'instant' connection, combined with their core values, personality and other intangibles were present in every conversation. Striving for excellence in all that they do, each of them places a high level of importance on being scholar-athletes. I am excited that today we are able to make their commitments official and welcome them to Pack Gymnastics!"
Myers hails from Cedar Grove, New Jersey, and is a product of the U.S. Gymnastics Development Center II in Mahwah, New Jersey. A two-time national and regional qualifier, Myers was a state champion on bars in 2022, and Landrus had this to say about the Garden State native:
"Over the past few years, Ava has had a meteoric rise through the competitive ranks of USA Gymnastics. Her natural athleticism will propel her to great heights in the NCAA. Her relentless drive, fueled by her love for sport and NC State, has made her dream a reality. Her balance of difficulty and artistry will guarantee that she will be fun to watch throughout her collegiate career. Her conscientious personality combined with her caring demeanor will be infectious to all those around her."
NC State built on its preexisting relationships in Texas as Landrus signed Jenna Rusk on Wednesday as well. A native of New Braunfels, Texas, Rusk comes to Raleigh from Mavericks Gymnastics where she worked toward becoming a two-time national and regional qualifier, as well as a Level 10 Regional Bars champion. More from Landrus on Rusk below:
"Love what you do and do what you love perfectly describes Jenna. A fun, lighthearted personality that has been chasing this dream for as long as she can remember! She embraces the challenges of the sport, while working diligently to achieve excellence both in practice and on the competition floor. She literally cannot wait to compete for the Pack and spread her contagious personality to all those around her. Expect for her to embrace the challenge of NCAA Gymnastics and exude excellence daily."
Lastly, NC State legacy and Holly Springs native Caroline Volk locked up her spot on the Wolfpack roster. Volk is a Level 10 North Carolina All-Around champion and a three-time national and regional qualifier.
Landrus described Volk as someone "with a big heart and Red and White already in her blood."
"Caroline is always striving to be great. She is truly a '1% better' every day individual. Whether it's in athletics, academics or her personal life, she is always climbing to reach her personal goals while being the best teammate, friend and person that one could ask for. I have no doubt that Caroline will lead with passion and purpose at NC State in every facet of her life."
The Pack's recruiting class was tabbed No. 17 in College Gym News' rankings, with NC State named as the highest-ranked program in the ACC and the lone team in the league named in the Top 25.
