#3 Wrestling Dominates at #26 Appalachian State

Boone, N.C. - Third-ranked NC State Wrestling (2-0) picked its second win for the week with a 40-3 dub against 26th-ranked Appalachian State (0-1) on the road Friday, November 3rd.

The Wolfpack won nine of 10 matches over the Mountaineers, including two via pins, two via technical falls, and two via major decisions.

Seventh-ranked Jackson Arrington (sophomore) started off the night for the Wolfpack with a major decision to set the pace. After leading, 5-0 at the conclusion of the second period, he picked up the pace with a 15-2 finish over App State's 25th-ranked Cody Bond.

Fifth-ranked Ed Scott (junior) kept things going with his own decision over App State's 20th-ranked Tommy Askey. By the end of the second period he was already leading 11-2 and completed with a 13-6 score.

33rd-ranked AJ Kovacs (sophomore) extended the teams lead when he took down App State's Will Miller in a third period comeback. Kovacs was behind following the end of the first and second period but came out on top in a heated 5-4 decision.

22-ranked Alex Faison (5th year), in arguably the most thrilling bout of the night, secured another win for the Wolfpack over App State's Luke Uliano. The first and second period remained scoreless but Faison forced a last minute overtime at 3-3. A quick takedown put red and white fans on their feet when he walked away with a 6-3 decision.

29th-ranked Dylan Fishback (red shirt freshman) set the new standard when he pinned App State's Tomas Brooker in the first period. Fishback now has pinned both of his opponents so far this season.

Fifth-ranked Trent Hidlay (red shirt senior) came out swinging and got ahead of his opponent right away. Facing App State's Hunter Adams, Hidlay started his season with a 19-4 technical fall.

Jarrett Trombley (5th year) fell in a hard fought match to App State's Ethan Oakley after a low scoring 2-4 match, giving the Mountaineers their only team points of the night.
