
Stokes, Cropper Have Career Night as Pack Defeats Eagles, 3-1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Senior libero Skye Stokes set a new career high of seven aces as the Wolfpack (19-7, 9-6) topped Boston College (16-13, 5-10), Friday evening, 3-1.
Stokes seven aces mark the fourth most in a single match in program history.
The Eagles took the first set after a back-and-forth battle. The two teams tied the set on 15 occasions, but Boston College came out on top. Junior opposite Amanda Rice recorded five kills while hitting .833 through the first frame, while also leading defensively with three blocks for the Pack.
Boston College went on a 4-0 run to open the second set, forcing head coach Luka Slabe to take an early timeout to help the Pack regroup. NC State went on a 6-1 run to take the lead after the timeout, giving the Pack its first lead of the evening. The Eagles minimized the deficit to two, but the Pack called a timeout and scored the first point after. The Wolfpack took set two 25-20 after a 5-2 run ended it.
The Wolfpack continued to build off the momentum in set two. Cropper recorded her seventh block of the evening to mark a new career high, when the Pack tied the set seven-all. After the Eagles recorded their sixth service error of the match, NC State took set three, 25-22.
NC State continued to dominate in the fourth set, leading by at most nine points. The Eagles struggled to stop the Pack, recording eight errors early in the set. Stokes tied her previous career high of six aces on the team's 15th point and then set a new career high when she recorded her seventh of the evening on the 18th point of the set. The Pack ended the set 25-19, despite a late rally from the Eagles.
Rice led the way with 16 kills, while Ava Brizard added 15 and Martyna Leoniak added 11. Cropper finished the evening off with eight blocks and added two kills. Fifth year setter Kristen McDaniel led the setters with 28 assists, while senior setter Naomi Cabello tallied 15.
The Pack will travel south to Virginia to take on the Hokies on Sunday Nov. 12 in Blacksburg. First serve is set for 12pm EST on ACC Network.
