Pack Heads South For Week Three of ACC Play

RALEIGH -- The NC State volleyball team heads south to Florida to take on Miami and Florida State for week three of Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Pack, who received votes in the Oct. 3 AVCA Coaches Poll, will take on the Hurricanes on Friday Oct. 6 at 7pm before heading north to Tallahassee to take on the Seminoles on Sunday Oct. 8 at 1pm.Â
The Match Up
- The Pack have a target on their back now that they defeated No. 5 Louisville
- Miami holds a 15-5 advantage over the Pack, but NC State has won three of the last five meetings
- When playing on the Canes home court, the Pack is 2-12
- The meeting with the Seminoles will be the 39th with the Wolfpack
- FSU holds a 34-4 advantage over NC State and have won four of the last five
One for the History Books
- The Pack defeated No. 5 Louisville on October 1, the first in program history that the team has ever defeated a top-five opponent
- Sunday evening was also the first time in program history that the Wolfpack defeated a ranked opponent in Reynolds
- The win also marked only the second win over a top-25 opponent (defeated then No. 10 FSU, 3-2, in 2016)
Season of Milestones
- The 2023 squad as marked several milestones through the first 15 matches of the season
- Against Utah Valley on Aug. 26, the Pack rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to record a reverse sweep, which was the first time since 2015 this occurred
- The 11-1 record (matches through Sept. 22) was the best start to a season since 2015 and under head coach Luka Slabe
- The squads 10-match win-streak (matches from Aug. 26 to Sept. 22) was the longest since 2014 and with Slabe at the helm
- The win over No. 5 Louisville marked the first win over a top-five team, first win over a ranked team in Reynolds, and the second win over a top-25 team in program history
- NC State also received votes in the October 2 AVCA Coaches Poll (no record of this occurring before)
Big Red
- Junior opposite Amanda Rice recorded a career high 18 kills against Rutgers and Ohio
- Due to her performance at the Bobcat Invitational, she earned Tournament MVP
- With her seventh kill of the evening against George Washington, she surpassed 500 on her career
- She led the team with 16 kills against No. 5 Louisville and finished with a .443 hitting percentage (a season best)
Setting Machine
- Fifth year setter Kristen McDaniel recorded her 68th match with 20 or more assists in the Pack win over No. 5 Louisville
- The Mililani, Hawaii native hit 2000 assists on her career last season and looks to hit 3000 this season
- She currently sits 466 assists away from 3K
