DURHAM, N.C. – NC State fell behind early and could not recover, as the Wolfpack lost at Duke 24-3 Saturday night from Wallace Wade Stadium.
The lone field goal for the Wolfpack came from Brayden Narveson as he drilled a 57-yard field goal to give the Wolfpack the 3-0 lead on their first offensive drive.
The 57-yard field goal was a career-long for Narveson and is now the longest field goal in program history, breaking Damon Hartman's previous best of 56 yards set in 1990.
Offensively for NC State, Kevin "KC" Concepcion led the receivers with six receptions for 63 yards. MJ Morris totaled 193 passing yards and led the team in rushing with 38 yards.
The Wolfpack defense got after it three plays into the game as Shyeim Battle got his 7th career interception and second of the season to bring the NC State offense onto the field.
NC State turned the turnover into the first points of the ball game, but that would be the only Wolfpack score.
Duke went on to take the lead on their third drive of the game after two plays and a 69-yard touchdown reception from Jalon Calhoun.
It was a penalty-filled first quarter as the Wolfpack were called for six penalties compared to Duke only having one.
The Blue Devils rattled off 10 straight points one minute and nine seconds apart with a field goal and a touchdown following a Morris interception, making it 17-3, where it would remain heading into halftime.
After the Wolfpack could not put any points on the board coming out of the half, on the Blue Devils' first offensive play of the second half, Jordan Waters took it 83 yards to the end zone to make it 24-3; where would it end.
It is the first game without a touchdown for the Wolfpack since 2014 against Clemson.
Up Next: The Wolfpack hit the bye week next weekend, followed by NC State returning to Carter-Finley Stadium on October 28th to host Clemson.
