
Gymnastics Home Opener Set For Saturday

Pack Hosts Michigan State at 4 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum
RALEIGH – The NC State gymnastics team kicks off its 2023 home slate of meets on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 4 p.m. when nationally-ranked Michigan State visits Reynolds Coliseum for a dual meet.
The Wolfpack enters Saturday's contest coming off an impressive performance in the team's season opener, a dual meet at North Carolina. Highlighted by a meet-high bars mark of 49.100, NC State set a program record for the highest first-meet score in school history at 195.525, eclipsing the previous tally of 195.150 that was set in the 2011 season opener against Oklahoma.
Monday's dual meet at North Carolina saw both transfer Krista Zultevicz and freshman Kailee Adomaites make their NC State debuts, while additionally highlights included Chloe Negrete's return to action after sitting out the 2022 season due to injury and Emily Shepard posting an all-around score of 39.000.
Michigan State enters Saturday's meet sitting at 13th in Road To National's nationwide poll, with the Spartans coming off a season-opening score of 196.550 in a dual meet at eighth-ranked Alabama. Three Michigan State gymnasts took home event titles, with Sage Kellerman, Gabrielle Stephen, and Baleigh Garcia leading the way for the Spartans.
Saturday's contest will be the seventh time NC State and Michigan State have met in gymnastics, with the Wolfpack holding an all-time edge of 5-1 dating back to 1997. The two schools most recently met in 2019, while the series is highlighted by NC State setting its program record with a score of 197.725 while competing alongside the Spartans in the 2000 Wolfpack Invitational.
