
#11 NC State Falls at Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – NC State women's basketball (13-4, 3-3 ACC) fell by a 91-72 score at Florida State (16-3, 5-1 ACC) on Thursday night.
The 19-point loss marked NC State's largest margin of defeat in ACC play since falling at Louisville by 30 points on Feb. 28, 2019.
The Wolfpack had four players score in double figures — Saniya Rivers (12), Diamond Johnson (11), Mimi Collins (11) and Madison Hayes (10).
NC State turned the ball over just four times, which tied as the fewest in a game in program history, but Florida State shot a season-best 55.6 percent (35-of-63).
NC State went into the halftime locker room staring up at a double-digit deficit for just the second time this season. Florida State led 43-33 following the opening 20 minutes after leading for the majority of the first half. The Seminoles went on an early 12-0 run and shot 70.6 percent (12-of-17) in the first period but NC State picked up the defensive intensity in the next quarter. The Wolfpack, fueled by eight points by Johnson in the second quarter, got as close as four points 937-33) in the period, but FSU hit back-to-back threes, including one at the buzzer, to regain its 10-point advantage.
The Seminoles went on to score the first 11 of the third quarter and 22 of the first 27 of the second half to open up a 27-point lead (65-38) that marked the largest deficit the Pack has faced this season. NC State brought it back within 15 points in the fourth quarter but was unable to make up any more ground than that.
NC State stays on the road this weekend for a top-25 rivalry matchup with No. 22 UNC. Tip-off between the Wolfpack and the Tar Heels is set for 3:30 p.m. from Carmichael Arena, and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
