La Sasso and Einstein led NC State in season-opening tournament
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. - Â The NC State men's golf team opened the 2022-23 season with an 18th-place finish at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate held at the Mirabel Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Michael La Sasso and Brandon Einstein were the top finishers for NC State with the duo finishing in a tie for 65th place at three-over par for the tournament.
Playing in his first collegiate tournament, La Sasso opened with a two-under 68 on Friday and closed with rounds of 71 and 74 on Saturday and Sunday.
Einstein shot a two-under par 68 in the second round as those were the lowest rounds by an NC State golfer on the weekend.
Ethan Choi and Maximilian Steinlechner finished in a tie for 75th place at five-over par for 54 holes.
Spencer Oxendine rounded out the NC State lineup in 85th place at nine-over par.
Auburn took home the team title, finishing five shots ahead of second-place Arizona State. Florida State and Geogia Tech finished in third and fourth while Washington rounded out the top five.
Carter Graf and Joey Lenane competed in the Maui Jim Invitational held at Desert Mountain Golf Club. Graf finished in a tie for 18th place at even par while Lenane, making his collegiate debut, finished in a tie for 21st place at two-over par.
The Pack are back in action Monday, Sept. 26 when it plays at the Folds of Honor Collegiate held at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Mich.
