Pack Opens Season with Win in Straight Sets

MANHATTAN, KAN. – The Wolfpack was unstoppable Friday morning as it cruised past Florida A&M in straight sets (25-16, 25-18, 25-17) to open the season at the K-State Invitational.
NC State finished the morning doubling the amount of kills as the Rattlers (40-23) and limiting them to a .000 hitting percentage.
Junior Amanda Rice led the Pack as she tied her career high 12 kills. She tallied 13.5 points and six digs in the season opener.
Freshman Ava Brizard also recorded 12 kills and added 13 points in her collegiate debut for the Wolfpack.
Junior setter Naomi Cabello made her debut in the red and white with a .667 hitting percentage and 27 assists.
Set One (25-16)
The Pack controlled momentum from the beginning as they tallied three straight points to start the morning. Rice tallied six kills, including four straight to help maintain the momentum. Florida A&M tallied 15 errors in the first set, allowing the Pack to go on multiple scoring streaks.
Set Two (25-18)
The Rattlers took an early lead and the game tied seven times before the Pack took over the lead, 12-11, and never looked back. Sophomore Jada Allen tallied two solo blocks to help push the Pack to the win.
Set Three (25-17)
NC State took an early lead, but Florida A&M quickly tied the game, 9-9, after a service error. Brizard recorded five of her 12 kills in match three alone. She recorded the match winning kill after a set from Cabello.
