RALEIGH – Two days after netting the game-winning goal against VCU, NC State women's soccer forward Jameese Joseph was named TopDrawerSoccer's National Player of the Week on Tuesday morning.
Joseph, a 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List honoree and Preseason All-ACC Team member, logged a goal and an assist between NC State's two matches over its opening week. The Beltsville, Maryland native opened her 2022 campaign with an assist against Rhode Island, threading a pass behind the Rams' back line to Leyah Hall-Robinson for NC State's second of four goals in a 4-0 victory.
The senior then tallied her first goal of the season in the 87th minute on Sunday, collecting a through ball from Alexis Strickland before striding into the box and finishing with a right-footed shoot into the bottom-right corner of the goal. Joseph's goal lifted NC State to a 2-1 victory over VCU.
Joseph has tallied 14 goals and eight assists in her Wolfpack career, pacing NC State with nine goals and 20 points in 2021. She leads NC State with 10 shots this season.
