Pack Collects USTFCCCA Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The NC State track & field teams have each been named All-Academic Teams by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), as announced by the organization on Wednesday.
In order to be named an All-Academic Team, a squad must hold a team GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
Twenty-two members of the Wolfpack squads garnered USTFCCCA All-Academic individual honors. To earn an individual honor, a student-athlete must have a GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and additionally must have finished the indoor season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event or in the top 48 in any championship relay event or must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season.
The men's and women's teams each set program records for the most individual honors in a season. The men's squad totaled eight and the women's team collected 14.
Joshua Brockman, Jamar Davis, Von Douglas, Brett Gardner, Gavin Gaynor, Andrew Haberman, Alex Lang and Cameron Murray represented the men's squad. Davis' honors are the fifth his career while Gaynor tabs the accolades for the fourth time. Brockman and Murray's are their second while Douglas, Gardner, Haberman and Lang attain the honors for the first time.
On the women's side, Kelsey Chmiel, Dominique Clairmonte, Michelle Cobb, Allie Hays, Ally Henson, Heather Holt, Mariah Howlett, Brandi Hughes, Nevada Mareno, Gionna Quarzo, Savannah Shaw, Marlee Starliper, Katelyn Tuohy and Anna Vess achieved the honor. Mareno and Shaw's accolades are the fourth of their careers while Chmiel, Cobb and Hays earn them for the third time each. Henson, Howlett, Hughes, Quarzo, Tuohy and Vess become two-time honorees with the recognition while Clairmonte, Holt and Starliper attain the honors for the first time.
