RALEIGH – NC State softball head coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift has announced the addition of Rebecca Murray to the 2023 roster on Thursday.
Murray comes to the Pack as a graduate transfer after playing at Elon. In 2022 the Indian Trail, N.C., native was one of two players to start all 52 games for the Phoenix and she finished the season leading the team in batting average (.333), runs (30), hits (54) and doubles (13). Murray was second on the team in slugging percentage (.525) and on-base percentage (.397).
Additionally, the centerfielder went 26-for-28 (92.9%) on the base paths last season which is 11 more stolen bases than she racked up in her first three seasons combined. After such a stellar season, Murray was named to the First Team All-CAA which was her second all-conference honor as she was named to the Second Team in 2021.
Murray was also a star in the classroom as she was listed on Elon's AD Honor Roll in seven semesters while also making the CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll in four semesters. Murray graduated from Elon with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
Murray is the second student-athlete to join the Wolfpack this week as Bri Tucker announced on Monday that she will continue her career at NC State.
