RALEIGH – Doak Field at Dail Park will be an even better place to play and to watch a game in the future, as the NC State Baseball program's enhancement plan for the venue has taken another big step forward. Don Sherrill of Charlotte has committed another significant gift towards the project.
This is the fourth major commitment announced for the project that will impact NC State baseball's competitive future, while also significantly enhancing the spectator experience.
"Don and the Sherrill family have a meaningful, multi-generational connection to NC State Athletics and the Wolfpack Club," said NC State Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan. "Don's commitment to the baseball program and to the Wolfpack is greatly appreciated. They are a great family and I'm so happy that they will be involved with this project."
Sherrill and his extended family have been longtime supporters of NC State and the Wolfpack Club, but a close bond with Coach Elliott Avent deepened their relationship with the school and program.
"It was important to me to support Coach Avent and all he has done for the NC State baseball program," Sherrill said. "I hope this project helps Wolfpack baseball continue the program's upward trajectory and establishes us as a top tier program in the country for many years to come."
"Don has been a great friend to me and to NC State baseball," said Avent. "I'm so appreciative of his commitment and that he is helping provide this huge benefit for our program."
The enhancement plan has been separated into three phases to strategically meet program and budgetary priorities - field improvements, player performance facilities and game day/fan experience enhancements. These phases not only look to provide performance facilities for NC State players that will help them compete for and win championships, but it will create an innovative space that offers exceptional fan experience and is unique to NC State's loyal supporters.
