RALEIGH – Highlighted by 12 home matches, NC State women's soccer has its competition schedule set for the 2022 season, as announced by head coach Tim Santoro on Thursday.
"We'll again test ourselves in the non-conference to prepare for the conference portion," said head Coach Tim Santoro. "We've been routinely in the top part of non-conference RPI the last five years, and our goal is to do so again before playing the hardest 10-game stretch a Division I team can play: the ACC."
The Wolfpack will open its season with five consecutive matchups at Dail Soccer Stadium, as it will host Ohio State in an exhibition August 8 and then welcome Rhode Island, VCU, Campbell and Georgetown August 18, 21, 25 and 28.
NC State will close out its nonconference slate with matches at Elon (Sept. 1), Nebraska (Sept. 8) and South Carolina (Sept. 11), along with a home matches against Harvard (Sept. 4) and High Point (Sept. 15), during the first half of September.
In conference play, the Pack will host Wake Forest (Sept. 18), Virginia Tech (Sept. 22), Duke (Sept. 25), Miami (Oct. 15) and Louisville (Oct. 20), and travel to Clemson (Sept. 30), Notre Dame (Oct. 6), North Carolina (Oct. 9), Virginia (Oct. 23) and Syracuse (Oct. 27).
The ACC Tournament quarterfinals will be held Oct. 30 at select campus sites while the semifinals and finals will take place Nov. 3-6 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
The NCAA First Round is slated to run Nov. 11-13, while the second and third rounds will be held Nov. 18-20. The Elite Eight will be played Nov. 25-27 at select campus sites and the NCAA College Cup will run Dec. 1-4 at WakeMed Soccer Park.
NC State is coming off of a 9-9-2 season in 2021, which was highlighted by a NCAA Second Round Appearance. The squad is one of four teams in the ACC and one of eight in the country in the last five fall seasons to make at least the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament every year and advance to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in at least three of those seasons.
The program will welcome eight newcomers to the 2022 roster while 20 players return from last year's squad.
