NCAA-best eight Scholar All-Americans
RALEIGH, N.C. – For only the second time in school history, the NC State Wrestling team was named a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Top-30 Scholar All-American Team. The Wolfpack checked in at No. 20 nationally with a team GPA of 3.40, a new school record.

The Pack was previously honored as a top-30 squad in 2020 at No. 16 (3.25 GPA).

In addition, a school record eight members of the Pack were named 2022 NWCA D1 Scholar All-Americans. The Pack increased its total from seven last year, and NC State leads the nation with eight receiving the honor this year.

2022 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Trent Hidlay led the way with a perfect 4.0. He was named a Scholar All-American for the third straight year. Older brother Hayden Hidlay closed out his Wolfpack career by earning the distinction for a fifth time.

Both Ed Scott and Isaac Trumble were named for the second straight year, while Thomas Bullard also earned the honor for the second time (2017).

A trio of Pack wrestlers were named NWCA Scholar All-Americans for the first time in their careers: Tyrie Houghton, Kai Orine and Tariq Wilson.

Over the last three years, NC State has had 21 earn NWCA Scholar All-American honors, an amount higher than the first seven seasons combined under Pat Popolizio (20).
