Placement at U.S. Open determines qualification for World Team Trials

RALEIGH, N.C. – A total of 15 wrestlers will be representing the Wolfpack Wrestling Club this weekend in Las Vegas at the 2022 U.S. Open. A former national champion, another former All-American, along with five current members of the Wolfpack Wrestling team will be in action in Senior Freestyle.

Seven members of the Pack will be competing in U20 Freestyle. In addition, four incoming freshmen will also be competing in the U20 Freestyle field.

All participants are vying to advance to the World Team Trials based on their placements this weekend.

Senior Freestyle
57 kg – Jakob Camacho - #2 seed
70 kg – Ed Scott
74 kg – Tommy Gantt - #2 seed
86 kg – Trent Hidlay - #2 seed
86 kg – Nick Reenan - #3 seed
92 kg – Isaac Trumble - #1 seed
97 kg – Michael Macchiavello - #1 seed
125 kg – Owen Trephan

U20 Freestyle
65 kg – Ryan Jack
70 kg – AJ Kovacs
74 kg – Luke Ahrberg
74 kg – Derek Fields
79 kg – Donald Cates
86 kg – Brock Delsignore
86 kg – Joey Milano

In addition to the current members of the Wolfpack Wrestling Club participating, incoming freshmen Troy Hohman (57 kg), Finn Solomon (65 kg), Matt Singleton (79 kg) and Chase Horne (125 kg) will also be competing in the U20 freestyle field.

Action for both Senior Freestyle and U20 Freestyle will take place on Friday and Saturday. The prelims and quarterfinals will begin Friday at 1 p.m. (ET), the semifinals will be that night at 9 p.m. All medal matches for Pack wrestlers will be Saturday night at 9 p.m.
