
Taylor Johnson Hits NC State Past Eagles

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Taylor Johnson pushed NC State past Boston College, 3-2 on Friday evening in the Atlantic Coast Conference softball series opener inside of Harrington Athletics Village.
Johnson had an outstanding day at the plate to lead the Wolfpack (30-18, 6-13 ACC) as she finished 2-for-3, accounting for all of NC State's runs with three RBI.
Brittany Jackson turned in her eighth two-hit outing of the season as she went 2-for-3 with a double. Maddie McPherson improved to 11-8 in the circle after tossing her fourth complete game of the season finishing with a stat line of three hits, two runs (one earned), one walk and four strikeouts.
The Eagles (19-22, 5-14 ACC) took an early 1-0 lead in the second off a solo home run. NC State's bats woke up in the fifth as Johnson hit a solo home run, her eighth of the season to tie the game at one apiece.
Boston College answered with an RBI double in the bottom half of the frame to regain the lead, 2-1. In the sixth, Johnson stepped up to the plate and hit a two-RBI double to left center field to put the Pack back on top 3-2.
In the bottom of the seventh, McPherson shut the door as she had her fifth three up, three down inning to end the game.
