SENIOR CELEBRATION:
The Wolfpack will honor the career of Jaeda Daniel prior to Saturday's match against Notre Dame. After transferring to NC State from Auburn ahead of the 2019-20 season, Daniel has played an integral role in the best campaigns in Wolfpack women's tennis history.
Coming into the weekend, Daniel has compiled a 70-18 (.795) record in doubles and a 57-36 (.613) record in doubles while a member of the Pack. She will leave NC State ranked in the program top 10 in career singles and doubles victories despite only having played three years here.
Daniel has surpassed the 20-win mark for doubles each year on the team and most recently earned a career-best doubles ranking. This season alone, Daniel has been ranked in the national top 15 in singles since the season started. An ITA All-American in doubles in 2021, she reached the Round of 16 at last year's NCAA Championships.
RANKINGS REVIEW:
As a team, NC State has been ranked in the national top eight for the entirety of the season and in the national top three for the entirety of March and April. The Wolfpack has spent back-to-back weeks at No. 3 and has been in the national top three since February 16. NC State has faced 12 opponents ranked in the national top 25 this season and is 8-4 in those contests.
In singles, Daniel (No. 11), Abigail Rencheli (No. 40), Alana Smith (No. 55) and Priska Nugroho (No. 60) all remain in the national top 60. The Pack's top two doubles pairs are also both in the national top 25, with Daniel and Nell Miller checking in at a career-best No. 3 and Rencheli and Amelia Rajecki ranked 22nd.
CAN'T STOP NUGROHO:
Wolfpack rookie Priska Nugroho was honored as ACC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season and the second week in a row on Tuesday. She remains the only player in the league to be recognized with an ACC weekly award more than twice during the season. Nugroho went unbeaten in singles last weekend, winning matches against opponents from Virginia Tech and Virginia in straight sets.
ON THE HUNT FOR 24:
The Wolfpack secured a 20+ win season for the third time under the leadership of head coach Simon Earnshaw. The team went 20-6 last season and 24-7 in 2019 dual matches. Both of those numbers stand as the top two single-season win totals in program history. NC State needs five more dual match victories to set a new team record for wins in a single season.
COMING UP:
Following the conclusion of regular-season action, NC State will turn its attention to the 2022 ACC Women's Tennis Championship. The event is set to run April 20-24 at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga.
