#20 Men’s Tennis Falls to #21 Miami in 4-2 Decision

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The No. 20 NC State men's tennis team (10-4, 1-2 ACC) fell to 21st-ranked Miami (9-2, 0-1), 4-2 on Sunday.
DOUBLES RECAP
The Wolfpack continued a strong season of doubles competition, taking the point with wins on courts one and two.
No. 51 Fons Van Sambeek and Martins Rocens got the first win, defeating Juan Martin Jalif and Oren Vasser on court two by a score of 6-2.
On court one, No. 34 Robin Catry and Luca Staeheli clinched the doubles point for the Pack with a 6-3 takedown of No. 27 Franco Aubone and Benjamin Hannestad.
SINGLES RECAP
Miami got on the board in singles with a trio of early wins. Martin Katz defeated Braden Shick 6-3, 6-2 on court six shortly before Oren Vasser got the 6-2, 6-0 win over Rocens.
No. 117 Dan Martin defeated No. 84 Rafa Izquierdo Luque 6-3, 6-2 to put the Hurricanes one away from clinching.
Staeheli got NC State its only singles point of the match, defeating Hannestad in a 7-6(5), 6-0 decision before Miami clinched the win with Bojan Jankulovski's 6-4, 6-4 win over No. 101 Catry.

NC State makes the short trip to Winston-Salem, N.C., to take on No. 7 Wake Forest Thursday, March 10.
