
Elissa Cunane Honored as WBCA All-American

MINNEAPOLIS – Wolfpack women's basketball senior Elissa Cunane rounded out her career with another All-America Team nod as she was recognized as one of ten players on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) list for the 2021-22 season.
Cunane was recognized among the best players in Division I (regardless of position) as chosen by the nation's head coaches after earning honorable mention WBCA honors in both 2020 and 2021.
The Wolfpack center recently declared for the WNBA Draft, wrapping up a storied four-year career. Cunane ends her time at NC State ranked sixth in program history in career points (1,855), seventh in double-doubles (34) and fifth in rebounds (986). She is the program record holder in free throws made (513) in addition to ranking in the NC State top 10in a multitude of other categories.
This year, Cunane already garnered Second Team All-America recognition from the Associated Press and the USBWA. In addition, she was named ACC Tournament MVP for the second season in a row and was a consensus First Team All-ACC honoree for the third year in a row. Cunane was one of five finalists for the 2022 Lisa Leslie Award that recognizes the top center in women's NCAA Division I basketball and was one of 15 players on the Women's National Ballot for the 2021 John. R. Wooden Award that honors the Player of the Year.
She put up season averages of 13.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 53.1 percent shooting (182-of-343), 83.5 percent from the charity stripe (116-of-139) and 1.3 assists per game.
The Summerfield, N.C., native was the leading scorer and the anchor of the Pack's four-out, one-in system. She scored in double figures in 28 games, highlighted by five 20+ point outings and a team-leading nine double-doubles.
Across 125 games played in her career at NC State, Cunane averaged 14.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and 54.0 percent shooting.
Cunane now prepares for the WNBA Draft, which will be held in New York on Monday, April 11.
