Wolfpack earned double bye into Friday's quarterfinal for fourth season in a row

GREENSBORO, N.C. – After securing the No. 1 seed at the ACC Tournament for the first time in 32 years, the third-ranked NC State women's basketball team (26-3) will open action at the 2021 edition of the event in the quarterfinal round on Friday afternoon. The Wolfpack will ninth-seeded Florida State at 2 p.m. on Friday.
Live television coverage for the quarterfinal game will be provided by the ACC's Regional Sports Networks (Bally Sports South in Raleigh). Andrew Sanders and Ernie Myers will also have the call on WKNC 88.1FM in Raleigh.
A WIN ON FRIDAY WOULD...

• Be head coach Wes Moore's 775th career win (774-237)
• Be Moore's 217th win at NC State (216-68)

NOTING THE WOLFPACK (26-3)
• NC State was ranked No. 3 in the Associated Press Top 25 on Monday for the second week in a row. The Wolfpack has been ranked fifth or higher in every poll this season.

6th in field-goal percentage (.467)
6th in defensive rebounds per game (30.2)
8th in three-point percentage (.377)

• Elissa Cunane leads the team in scoring with 13.4 points per game, and Diamond Johnson is the only other player averaging double figures with 11.2 per game.
• Cunane is ranked 13th in the ACC in scoring, second in field-goal percentage (.525), sixth in rebounding (7.6) and fourth in free throw percentage (.826).
• The Wolfpack has nine players who are shooting 40+ percent and have taken at least 80 shots this season. The only team in NCAA Division I women's basketball that has more players with such marks is UConn (10).
• Five Wolfpack players (minimum 50 attempts) are shooting 35+ percent from three-point range this season - Kai Crutchfield (.464), Kayla Jones (.424), Raina Perez (.388), Jakia Brown-Turner (.371) and Johnson (.361). NC State is the only ACC school that has more than three players with such marks and is one of four NCAA Division I programs (IUPUI, Iowa State, South Dakota State) that has five or more players with such marks.
• NC State has defeated seven top-20 opponents (No. 2 Maryland, No. 6 Indiana, No. 19 UNC, No. 16 Duke, No. 3 Louisville, No. 11 Georgia Tech, No. 23 Virginia Tech) in 2021-22. Prior to this season, the Wolfpack had not defeated seven ranked opponents since 1983-84. NC State has defeated eight ranked teams in a single season just once in program history (1979-80).

• The 2022 ACC Tournament marks the Wolfpack's 45th appearance in the conference tournament.
• The Wolfpack enters the week as the No. 1 seed for the first time since the 1989-90 campaign.
• The Pack has appeared in the championship game a total of 16 times and in the semifinals a total of 26 times.
• Overall, NC State owns a 25-15 record in games played in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament.
• This season marks the fourth year in a row that NC State has earned a double bye into the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.
CHAMPIONSHIP CHASE
NC State enters the 2022 ACC Tournament as the two-time defending champion after taking home the title in 2020 and 2021. 2020's title was the program's first since 1991 (breaking 29-year drought), and the 2021 championship marked the team's first time winning back-to-back ACC Tournament crowns.
Elissa Cunane was the 2021 ACC Tournament MVP after averaging 23.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 62.5 percent shooting in three Wolfpack wins. She and Crutchfield were both named to the All-ACC Tournament Team.
In addition to Cunane, NC State returns all of its points from last year's ACC Tournament - Jada Boyd (9.0), Jones (7.7), Crutchfield (7.7), Perez (6.7), Brown-Turner (6.3), Camille Hobby (3.3). The Wolfpack is the only team in the ACC to return all of its point scorers from the 2021 ACC Tournament.
PACK-OLADES
NC State had four players who were recognized as All-ACC Team members or with a yearly award. Coach Moore was also honored as ACC Coach of the Year by both sets of voters.
The Wolfpack's three All-ACC honorees by the Blue Ribbon Panel tied Virginia Tech as the most by any school in the league.
