Shepard Garners EAGL Co-Gymnast of the Week Accolades

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - NC State gymnastics team junior Emily Shepard has been named East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Co-Gymnast of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. She shares the laurels with Ariana Castrence of Temple.Â
The honors are the first of the season for Shepard.
The Olathe, Kan., native posted an impressive weekend of competition at NC State's two meets, continuing a run of scoring 9.800 or higher. In NC State's dual meet with Temple, she earned a 9.875 on bars and a 9.850 on beam before tying her season-high floor mark of 9.900 that won her the individual title.
On Sunday, in a tri-meet at George Washington with Temple, Shepard posted a 9.800 on bars and a 9.850 on both beam and floor. The beam mark was good to earn her third place.
For five-straight meets Shepard has scored only 9.800 or higher on each event in which she has competed. The junior ranks third in the EAGL on beam with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.870 and is second in the conference on floor with an NQS of 9.880.
