Morris Leads NC State Over Elon

ELON, N.C. – Logan Morris tallied five RBI helping NC State take down Elon, 6-4 on Wednesday evening at Hunt Softball Park in non-conference softball action.
With the win, the Wolfpack heads into ACC play this weekend with a 16-2 overall record.
Morris had a career day, racking up a 2-for-4 performance with two home runs, five RBI and two runs scored. Taylor Ensley followed behind with a hit and a RBI.
Aisha Weixlmann earned the win in the circle to improve to 6-1 on the season. Weixlmann tossed 4.0 innings, striking out seven batters without allowing a walk.
Elon (9-5) took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. Morris allowed NC State to gain the lead as she hit a monster three-run shot over the left field fence in the third to put the Pack up 3-2. The Phoenix tacked on a run in the fourth and fifth innings to hold a 4-3 lead.
In the sixth, Ensley hit a double to left field, her third double of the season, which allowed pinch runner Gracie Roberts to score from first base to tie the score at four apiece. In the seventh, Morris stepped up to the plate and hit her second homer of the day, a two-run homer to left field to put NC State up 6-4.
In the bottom half of the seventh, Weixlmann shut the door with her sixth and seventh strikeouts and a pop fly to right field to end the game.
