Wake Forest Pulls Away in Second Half to Defeat Pack

Terquavion Smith led NC State with 22 points
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest shot 64.9 in the second half to pull away from NC State and win, 101-76, Wednesday night inside Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
A Terquavion Smith three-pointer tied the game at 48 with 16:11 to play, but Wake Forest responded with 11 consecutive points to take a 59-48 lead.
A Smith three-pointer brought the Pack back within eight but NC State would get no closer.
Wake Forest's points (101) and field goal percentage (60.9) were both the highest for an NC State opponent this season.
The Pack was led by Smith who scored 22 points. The Greenville, N.C., native hit five three-pointers and now has 91 on the season. The 91 three-pointers are the sixth-most in a single-season in program history and are now the fifth-most by a freshman in ACC history.
Jericole Hellems added 18 points while Casey Morsell had 10 points and led the team with seven rebounds and three steals and a career-high tying three steals.
Daivien Williamson led four Wake Forest players in double figures with 28 points. He finished 11-of-14 shooting, including 5-of-7 from three-point range. Dallas Walton added 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting and a game-high 12 rebounds. Alondes Williams finished with 17 points and 11 assists.
NC State completes the regular season Saturday afternoon when it plays at Florida State. Tipoff in Tallahassee is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
