
#4 NC State Makes Trip to Take on #3 Texas Sunday

RALEIGH – In what will be a rematch of the 2021 NCAA Championships semifinal, the fourth-ranked NC State women's tennis team (10-1) makes the trip to Austin for a Sunday matchup with third-ranked Texas (7-1). First serve from the Texas Tennis Center is set for 1 p.m. EST.
LAST TIME OUT:
NC State is coming off of its best-ever run at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship as it reached the semifinal match last weekend. The team defeated No. 14 Auburn and No. 3 Georgia in the opening two rounds. Prior to its semifinal loss, NC State compiled a 10-0 start to the season, the best season-opening mark for the squad since it was first established as a varsity team in 1978. NC State has already defeated five nationally-ranked opponents this season.
TOURNEY HONORS:
After going a perfect 3-0 at the No. 2 doubles spot at the tournament last weekend, Jaeda Daniel and Nell Miller were voted to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship All-Tournament Team. The duo most notably defeated Darja Vidmanova and Mell Reasco of Georgia by a 7-5 score to clinch the doubles point. In that win, they rallied off four games in a row after facing a 5-3 deficit and three break points.
PACK IN THE RANKINGS:
The Wolfpack moved up two spots in the ITA Top 25 Coaches Poll to check in at a season-high No. 4. NC State has been ranked in the national top 15 every rankings release since Feb. 26, 2019.
COMING UP:
After this road match, NC State will have a week off before returning to action for four home matches in a row. The Wolfpack will step into ACC play on Friday, March 4 as it hosts Florida State at 3 p.m. that day. All home matches at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center are free to attend. Fans are required to wear masks for any indoor competitions per NC State's University Community Standards.
