Ortega Named EAGL Specialist of the Week

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - NC State gymnastics junior Alexis Ortega has been named East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Specialist of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday. The laurels are the first of Ortega's career.

Ortega recorded an impressive performance across all three events she competed in at NC State's dual meet at LIU. The junior tied for the individual title on vault, bars and beam, all with scores of at least 9.850. She posted 9.850 on vault was good for a career best, and her 9.875 on bars was additionally good to improve her career high.

The Tampa, Fla., native ranks in the top 15 in the EAGL on both vault and beam.
