#22 Men’s Tennis Set for Competition at #23 North Carolina

RALEIGH - The No. 22 NC State men's tennis team (6-2) is headed to Chapel Hill, N.C., Thursday, Feb. 17 for a 4 p.m. non-conference matchup with the 23rd-ranked Tar Heels (5-1).
PACK IN THE RANKINGS
The team moved up two spots in the most recent edition of the ITA rankings to No. 22.
Robin Catry increased his singles ranking to No. 31 while Martins Rocens entered the singles rankings at No. 125. Additionally, the Wolfpack duo of Yannai Barkai and Collin Shick skyrocketed into the doubles rankings, checking in at No. 29.
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
North Carolina checks into the ITA rankings at No. 23 and most recently took down 13th-ranked South Carolina, 4-2. The team has been ranked for the entirety of the 2022 dual match season, reaching its highest ranking of the year at No. 13 on Jan. 19.
Tar Heels senior Brian Cernoch checks into the ITA singles rankings at No. 87.
LAST TIME OUT
The Pack hosted Presbyterian and NC Central on Feb. 12, sweeping each match by a score of 7-0.
NC State won the doubles points in both matches, and doubles play was highlighted by Robin Catry and Luca Staeheli's 7-5 win over No. 47 Max Benson and Dusan Milanovic.
Of the 12 singles matches played on the day, NC State was able to win 10 in straight-set decisions.
UP NEXT
NC State returns to Raleigh Thursday, Feb. 24 for a doubleheader against Radford (2 p.m.) and NC A&T (6 p.m.).
