Isaac Trumble Named co-ACC Wrestler of the Week

Freshman downed returning NCAA Finalist #6 Bonaccorsi of Pitt
RALEIGH, N.C. – Wolfpack freshman Isaac Trumble (197 pounds) has been named co-ACC Wrestler of the Week for his top-10 win in the dual at Pitt this weekend, a 26-9 NC State victory.

Trumble downed 2021 NCAA finalist and sixth-ranked Nino Bonaccorsi of Pitt, 2-0. After a scoreless first period, Trumble used a second-period ride-out (and finished with 2:00 of ride time) and then an escape to start the third period to put his points on the board.

It was the second straight week in which Trumble defeated a higher ranked ACC foe at 197 pounds (#13 Aiello of UVA in OT – 7-5). Trumble owns two wins over two top-six opponents this season (#4 Elam of Missouri – 5-3), and since being pinned at Princeton on Jan. 9, he has won five straight matches while outscoring his opponents 28-9.

He shared the weekly honor with UNC's Fr. Gavin Kane (184 pounds).

Last year, Trumble also won an ACC Wrestler of the Week honor, and it was also for downing Bonaccorsi in the dual. Making his Wolfpack debut, Trumble got a four-point near fall in the second period to down then-#5 Bonaccorsi, his lone loss before the NCAA final, 6-1.
