Volleyball Falls to Boston College After Intense Battle

RALEIGH – The NC State volleyball fell to Boston College Sunday afternoon in an intense match in Reynolds Coliseum.
Senior setter Kristen McDaniel tallied a season high 25 assists and marked 2000 assists on her career during the second set. She is one of five players in program history to hit the mark.
Sophomore Martyna Leoniak recorded a season high 17 kills to pace the Wolfpack Sunday afternoon. She also tallied 21 digs to record her second career double-double.
Graduate libero Priscilla Hernandez tallied 24 digs on the afternoon.
Set One (25-13)
The Pack came out with a bang, leading 10-5 at the first timeout. The Eagles attempted to stop the Pack on several occasions but were unsuccessful -- NC State led 19-9 at one point. Ava Brizard dominated the first set for the Pack, as she finished with six kills.
Set Two (19-25)
The Eagles gained momentum and stunned the Pack after taking a 10-5 lead. NC State made several attempts to stop the Eagles but were unsuccessful. On the 18th point for the Pack, McDaniel hit the 2000 career assist mark.
Set Three (22-25)
Despite the Pack falling in set two, it continued to battle. Boston College took an early lead, but NC State took over. The Eagles managed to tie the set 2-21 and went 4-1 on the next five points to finish.
Set Four (25-23)
The Eagles had a 2-1 lead to enter the set. The Pack dominated from the start, taking a 4-1 lead. Boston College made several attempts to stop the Pack but were unsuccessful. Leoniak tallied 15 kills at the end of the set to lead the Pack.
Set Five (12-15)
NC State battled in the final set, taking a 3-1 lead to start. Boston College capitalized on attacking errors by the Pack and took over. Head coach Luka Slabe used two challenges in the set, but both were unsuccessful.
Next Up
The Pack will head to Durham on Wednesday Oct. 19 to take on Duke. First serve is slated for 8pm.
