COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – NC State swimming head coach Braden Holloway has been named one of three finalists for the 2022 National Scholastic Collegiate Trophy, as announced by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) organization that gives out the award.
The trophy is the highest honor in intercollegiate and interscholastic swimming and diving. It is presented annually to the coach who, in the estimation of their peers, has "the greatest contribution to swimming as a competitive sport and as a healthful, recreational activity in the province of undergraduate and scholastic education." This is the 65th year of the award's existence.
Holloway, who was a five-time All-American at NC State, has enjoyed a decorated career as the head coach at his alma mater. In the midst of his 11th season with the Wolfpack, Holloway has helped guide his teams to a combined eight ACC Championships and has coached NC State to 13 NCAA titles (six relay wins, seven individual wins). He has been named ACC Coach of the Year eight times, including winning Men's Coach of the Year six seasons in a row from 2015-2020.
Most recently, Holloway helped lead the Wolfpack women to the best NCAA Championships finish in NC State swimming and diving history as they placed as runner-up at the 2021 national meet. Between the men's and women's teams, Holloway has coached 10 top-10 national team finishes, with his squad's both finishing in the top 10 at each of the last two NCAA meets.
His program has also thrived in the classroom, as he has coached hundreds of All-ACC Academic Team honorees in addition to multiple CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipients and ACC Scholar Athletes of the Year.
