
NC State Falls in Tight Match

WEST POINT, N.Y. – No. 15 NC State rifle nearly took down No. 14 Army on Monday inside of Tronsue Marksmanship Center but the Black Knights held on and handed the Wolfpack a tight 4680-4665 loss.
Both teams fired a 2355 air rifle score but Army (1-5) edged NC State (1-7) by just 15 points in smallbore (2325-2310) which was the difference maker in the match and allowed the Black Knights to earn their first win of the season.
One day after setting a career mark in smallbore, Ben Salas bested that mark by posting a team-best 583. With a 583, Salas posted the second-highest smallbore score of the match. Addy Burrow followed behind as she fired a 579, which was the fourth-best mark in the discipline. Both Katie Tedeschi and Travis Stockton rounded out the scoring for NC State with a total of 574 apiece.
Leading the way for the Pack in air rifle was Karadsheh, who tied for the highest air rifle total in the match as he tied his career high with a 591. Stockton was two points behind with a 589 while Burrow trailed by three with a 588. Salas was the final scorer for NC State, racking up a 587.
Overall, Salas was second individually in the match posting an 1170 aggregate score with Burrow placing third, tallying an aggregate total of 1167.
