Cross Country to Continue Action at Joe Piane Invite

RALEIGH - The NC State cross country teams are slated to continue their 2021 seasons at the Joe Piane Invitational Friday, Oct.1. The meet, hosted by Notre Dame, will be contested on the Burke Golf Course.
The Wolfpack women will be one of 13 ranked teams at the Joe Piane Invitational, a field that includes five teams ranked in the top 10 and 10 in the top 25.
On the men's side, NC State will face 11 teams in the top 30, including host institution No. 2 Notre Dame.

PACK IN THE POLLS
NC State's women remain ranked first in the country alongside BYU in he USTFCCCA National Rankings. With the poll released on Sept. 28, the women have been tied for the No. 1 spot for three-straight weeks.
Both the men's and women's squads check into the USTFCCCA Southeast Region Rankings in the top five. The women have been the top team in the region for the duration of the season while the men have tabbed the fifth spot every week.
LAST TIME OUT
The Pack opened its season at the adidas XC Challenge on Friday, Sept. 17. NC State's women swept the top-six spots at the meet, scoring a perfect 15 points to take the team title. Sophomore Katelyn Tuohy claimed first place, an effort that was good to earn her ACC Performer of the Week on Sept. 21.
The men's squad took second place, defeating two teams ranked in the top 25 at the time of the race. Sophomore Brett Gardner was the first member of the squad across the finish line, placing third overall.
UP NEXT
NC State will travel to Madison, Wisc. (Nuttycombe Invitational), and Greenville, N.C. (ECU Pirate Invitational), for its final weekend of regular-season competition Oct. 15.
