RALEIGH – Wolfpack fans will have the opportunity to check out the 2021 NC State women's soccer squad for the first time this Saturday, as it is set to host Coastal Carolina in an exhibition match. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Dail Soccer Stadium, and admission is free.
The match will not be broadcast and there will not be live stats. Fans who do attend are asked to follow current campus guidelines, which can be found here.
2021 FALL ROSTER
This year's roster is comprised of 26 players. Just 14 of them have at least one semester of collegiate experience, as head coach Tim Santoro and his staff brought in a strong freshman class this fall. Three of those players were early enrollees in the spring and unable to play in NCAA competition, while the nine others just recently arrived in Raleigh for their first semester.
2021 FALL SLATE
The Wolfpack has an exciting and challenging schedule ahead of it, as eight teams on its slate were featured in the United Soccer Coaches 2021 Preseason Poll. All eight programs are ranked inside the top 17.
2021 SPRING RECAP
After missing the 2020 season due to an indirect impact of COVID-19, the Wolfpack went 5-3-1 in its 2021 spring slate.
The squad started its schedule with a 4-0-1 ledger, then suffered three consecutive losses to nationally ranked ACC and SEC programs, which were all by a one-goal margin, but closed out its schedule on a high note with a 3-1 comeback win over conference foe Boston College.
SERIES HISTORY
NC State and Coastal Carolina have met just four times in program history during the regular season, with the Wolfpack owning a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series.
The last meeting between the squads was on August 24, 2017 in Raleigh, and the Pack earned a 3-0 victory.
UP NEXT
NC State will play in one more exhibition match August 12 when it meets with No. 12 West Virginia at Thompson Field on the University of Virginia Tech's campus in Blacksburg, Va., for a 2 p.m. contest before opening its season August 19 at No. 11 Georgetown.
HOME OPENER
After starting its season on the road for three consecutive matches, the Pack will open its home slate August 29 when it welcomes No. 17 South Carolina to Dail Soccer Stadium at 1 p.m. NC State is scheduled to play seven total matches in Raleigh this year.
The match will not be broadcast and there will not be live stats. Fans who do attend are asked to follow current campus guidelines, which can be found here.
