NC State Set for Monday Night Matchup with UNC Asheville

RALEIGH – After opening its 2021 campaign with a victory in front of an energized Wolfpack crowd on Thursday night, the NC State men's soccer team continues its home stand on Monday as it welcomes UNC Asheville to Raleigh. The matchup is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff from Dail Soccer Stadium, and live video coverage will be provided by ACCNX.
FREE ADMISSION
Beginning in 2021, NC State men's soccer games are free of charge. Gates will open one hour prior to the start of the match. As NC State works toward a more normal on-campus experience, NC State Athletics will continue abiding by the current policies for campus as outlined in the University Community Standards.
A WIN MONDAY WOULD
• Be the 533rd win in program history (532-463-102)
• Be the 194th win in Kiefer's career (193-114-65)
• Be Kiefer's 32nd victory at NC State (31-28-14)
• Be NC State's fourth in a row over a non-conference opponent
SERIES HISTORY (NC State leads 3-0-0)
• Monday marks the fourth overall meeting between NC State and UNC Asheville. Every one of the matchups between the teams have occurred in Raleigh.
• The Wolfpack and the Bulldogs are set to face off for the first time since 2017. In the last meeting between the teams, NC State won by a 3-0 score.
• All three of the Pack's previous wins over UNC Asheville have been decided by three goals or more. In addition to the 2017 matchup, NC State also owns 6-2 (1994) and 6-0 (1972) victories over the Bulldogs.
LAST TIME OUT
• NC State earned a 2-0 win over USC Upstate in Thursday night's season opener. The match marked the Wolfpack's first time playing in front of a full home crowd in nearly 740 days.
• After getting on the board off an own goal by the Spartans in the 34th minute, NC State doubled its lead in the 40th with a beautiful score by freshman Luke Hille.
• The Pack possessed the ball for nearly two-thirds of the outing and out-shot the Spartans 18-4 in total, which included a 10-1 advantage in the first half. USC Upstate had just one shot on target in the 50th minute as NC State goalkeeper Leon Krapf earned the shutout victory.
TRACKING THE PACK (1-0-0)
• The Wolfpack has now won four of five season openers under the leadership of Coach Kiefer.
• Henrique Santos tallied a team-leading six shots in his Wolfpack debut. One of those attempts was on target and another hit the woodwork. Santos' six shots were the most by an ACC player in any season opener across the league.
• NC State was one of five ACC teams to record a shutout victory in its first game of the year.
STRENGTH IN THE PACK
• The depth of NC State's 2021 squad was on full display in the season opener. A total of 17 players made an appearance in the match against USC Upstate, with each one of those men clocking at least 15 minutes and 13 of them playing at least 45 minutes.
• Five players made their first appearance in NC State uniform including Luke Hille, Henrique Santos, Yaniv Bazini, Vusumzi Plamana and Cam Murray. Those five men accounted for 11 of the Pack's 18 shots on the night.
COMING UP
NC State is set to host the George Tarantini Classic over Labor Day Weekend. The four-team event will run matches on Sept. 3 and Sept. 6, with the Pack facing No. 10 Seton Hall at 7 p.m. Friday night and No. 13 UCF at 7 p.m. on Monday night.
