KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – NC State volleyball was unable to slow down a hot-hitting Tennessee as the Wolfpack fell, 3-0 (12-25, 23-25, 16-25) in the Tennessee Classic finale on Saturday evening.
The Pack (0-3) hung with the Tennessee Classic Champion Lady Volunteers (3-0) early in each set, including tying the game late in the second set but could not get over the hump to complete the job.
Graduate student Melissa Evans led the offensive charge with 10 kills while senior Jade Parchment followed behind with nine kills on a .238 hitting percentage and five digs. Junior Hannah Wander led the defense with nine digs while junior Kristen McDaniel nearly pulled off her third consecutive double-double with 29 assists and nine digs.
Freshman Jada Allen posted a solid performance as she hit .455 with six kills in 11 attempts and three digs. After staying consistent throughout the Classic, Allen was named to the Tennessee Classic All-Tournament Team.
Set One (NC State 12, Tennessee 25)
Tennessee controlled the momentum the entire set as the Lady Vols did not let the Pack within three points throughout the set. Despite hitting .231, the Wolfpack could not slow down the Lady Volunteers as they hit .440 with 14 kills and only three errors.
