Pack Opens Season at Tennessee Classic

RALEIGH – NC State volleyball begins its 2021 season on Friday at the Tennessee Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee. The Wolfpack's first match is set for Friday at 4 p.m. against East Tennessee State. The Pack wraps up action at the Tennessee Classic on Saturday playing Texas Tech (10 a.m.) and host Tennessee (6:30 p.m.).

- Friday's match will be the first meeting between the Buccaneers and the Pack since Aug. 26, 2006
- ETSU won the last meeting, 3-1 (28-30, 30-23, 32-30, 30-25)
- NC State leads the series record with a 9-2 advantage
- Saturday's contest will serve as the second-ever meeting between the programs
- The Red Raiders won the sole match on Sept. 3, 1999, 3-0 (15-7, 15-12, 15-10)
- Saturday's game will be the 14th meeting between Tennessee and NC State
- The Vols currently lead the series, 8-5
- The Pack is on a two-game win streak against Tennessee, most recently winning on Sept. 19, 2015, 3-0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-22)
- Saturday's finale will be streamed live on SEC Network Plus
- NC State returns 10 letterwinners from the odd 2020-21 season due to the CoVID-19 pandemic
- Leading the way for the returners are both of the Wolfpack's 2020 All-ACC selections - Melissa Evans and Jade Parchment
- The Pack added six freshmen to the 2021 roster - Saskia Hernandez, Maggie Jones, Jada Allen, Amanda Rice, Oliwia Durka and Molly Eversmann
- Head coach Luka Slabe enters his second season at the helm, compiling an 8-9 overall record after navigating through a difficult fall and spring.
- Melissa Evans was named to the 2021 Preseason All-ACC team
- This marks her fourth time earning a selection on this team
- The graduate student is coming off a great senior season as she was named to the All-ACC First Team, becoming the first NC State player in program history to earn four All-ACC honors.Â
